Mumbai: The state Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan approved the proposal to hike Floor Space Index (FSI) to 2 for the redevelopment of Fisherfolk (Koliwada) colonies and similar for such type of colonies. According to the senior officials, to take action on the approval may take months. As first we need to map the boundaries. The existing revenue land records do not define these boundaries.
Offical further said that, “the land record department has to conduct survey of colonies on individual basis.
The additional secretary TC Benjamin said “We plan to convene a meeting of land record and civic officials, among others, in the coming weeks to finalize the survey plan”. Whereas, there is several contradictories between the officials that whether the boundaries would have to be shown on the development plan or not. Benjamin also said that, the exercise would not be required as Gaothans and Koliwadas are recognized as distinct non-urban habitats and have their own set of development laws.
