To ensure a smooth communication between buyers and developers, the GAC, Gurgaon Arbitration Council was originally formed in 2015, under the chairmanship of the then deputy commissioner T L Satyaprakash, but the idea didn’t strike a chord then. However, with numbers of disputes over real estate in the city increasing greatly, developers have pitched to DTCP to revive GAC as a platform for developers and buyers that will use arbitration to resolve buyer issues.
“Gurgaon has a very high number of complaints relating to real estate projects, many of which can be solved by bringing together developers and buyers to a common platform,” said colonel Prithviraj, a member of National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO).
“Every day, we attend several complaints against developers. In most, buyers say they are unable to approach the developers. In such a scenario, a platform where both parties can sit together and resolve issues through arbitration will empower home buyers,” said R S Batth, district town planner, DTCP.
