Land Reform (Amendment) Bill 2012 passed in Bengal

Kolkata:On this Monday, state government has passed the amendments in Land Reform Bill 2012 in the state assembly by 252-46 votes despite Opposition by Left Front members.
The Parliamentary Affairs Minister Partha Chatterjee has introduced the West Bengal Land Reforms (Amendment) Bill 2012 for discussion, as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is also in-charge of Land Reforms department was absent. However, opposition leader Surya Kanta Mishra opposed the amendments and asked for detailed discussion on bill and also demanded that it be referred to a select committee of the House.
He also said that, “it would be untrue to pass the amendment in bill in just 20minutes discussion.”
While discussing on bill Chatterjee said the government is not against of industry and plenty of land was available for industrialization. He added that, the main objective of amendment of bill is to promote the industry as well as government trying to bring down unemployment ratio.
