Mumbai: This year the Mhada lottery has received a tremendous response comparatively 2011, as this year it has received more than 1.38L application forms for just 2,593 flats for sale. Till this Thursday which was the last date for applications.
According to the Mhada senior officials, the response is overwhelming as compared to 2011. In 2011, with 1.31 lakh applicants vying for 4,034 flats, there were roughly 32 applicants trying their luck for each flat. However, in the current FY12, the response got double the ratio is 53applications for 1 flat, as 1.38 lakh applicants vie for a share of 2,593 flats located at Mira Road, Sion, Kurla, Powai, Charkop and Borivli.
Authority further said, the final list of applications will be declared on 28-29May.
The scheme specially launched to provide affordable housing for lower income group, whereas only 172 are for the high income group.
