Airport revamp will affect to 42 families

Mumbai: After the announcement of revamping airport it would be the largest rehabilitation activity as approx 42 families will be project affected. Near about 42 families of slum dwellers from Bamanwada and Rajawadi areas of Andheri East were shifted to the Premier Automobile Ltd premises at Kurla West. The project will soon kick start with no display.
According to the reports the road will bridge the gap of Western Express Highway to the International Airport. And the half cost of road construction has been made by the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission and partly by MIAL to whom the airport has been leased.
The special planning authority Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) of the airport has undertaken the rehabilitation exercise.
Wadhwan said his company had handed over 10,000 tenements to MMRDA. “The state government has allowed us to provide rehabilitation for the families within 10 km of the airport site,’’ he said.
