Adopting a stern attitude towards lack of interest among allottees of industrial plots to set up functional units the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation (UPSIDC) has cancelled allotments of around 15 plots in the Sikandrabad Industrial Area. Around 50 industrial plots has also face cancellation as they have not responded to notices issued by the corporation three months back to regularize payments and utilize the land allotted to them. One of the officials said, that cancellations were done after notices regarding non-payment of installments went unheeded. The plots measuring between 300 sq m and 600 sq m had been allotted more than 5 years but allottees had failed to pay their dues. UPSIDC had issued notices to around 200 allottees for non-payment of installments and non- utilization of land. According to the UPSIDC, which had issued similar notices to around 300 industrial plot allottees in Greater Noida, a legal process of issuing service notices has been initiated against the defaulters in order to make a watertight case against them. Officials said that in Greater Noida, around 100 allottees regularized the process of setting up functional units after being issued cancellation notices. The UPSIDC informed that plans are afoot simultaneously to float a fresh scheme to allot the plots which stand cancelled. “The basic thrust of the drive is to ensure that industrial units are set up in a time-bound manner so that employment generation is boosted and revenues are earned.
