The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has sought an action taken report from the authorities against illegal farms houses and banquet halls in Ghaziabad.
Acting Chairperson Justice Jawad Rahim asked the GDA to file an affidavit on the issue.
The bench said, “The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) is directed to file a statement of the action taken against the banquet halls operating illegally in addition to the reply already filed in this case.”
The GNT was informed that there were over 100 banquet halls which were running without taking NOC from the authority.
Advocate Raman Yadav told the court that the authority has been sealing banquet halls and farmhouses for running in violation of norms. Advocate appeared in the hearing for the Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam.
Earlier the appeal was filed in regarding farmhouses and banquet halls running without authority’s permission. Akash Vashishtha and Sushil Raghav, residents of Ghaziabad had filed the plea against it.
The appeal had sought action against banquet and marriage halls in Ghaziabad which were conducted without obtaining agreement under Water (Prevention and Control of pollution) Act, 1974 and Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 and from the pollution control board.
The petition had sought stoppage and raze of such illegal banquet and party halls.
