Barren land now to be used for colonisation

Upon the long standing demands of the public, the state cabinet via circulation has decided to remove the ban on allotment of barren revenue land to individuals Jaisalmer’s dessert areas.

This decision comes from chief minister during her Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra in Jaisalmer on August 24.

The land which are earmarked as forest and wildlife areas shall not be allowed to colonise, a source said.

The land in reference is in a rainfed area. The land will be allotted around the second phase of the Indira Gandhi Canal.

The alloment will be done through the lottery system, if the figure of applicants is higher and a committee under the chairmanship of district collector would decide on the allottees, a source said.
