BMC to frame policy on illegal structures

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will frame a very comprehensive policy to deal with illegal structures by the end of the month. A special meeting of the general body was held on 7th February to discuss illegal structures. The commissioner Sitaram Kunte said the civic body will appoint designated officers to take action against illegal structures. In case there is negligence on part of the officer’s action will be taken against them.  He also added that the BMC was in talks with the state government for a designated police force to help during demolition drives. We will start an online system where pictures of illegal structures can be uploaded so that action can be taken against them in a time bound manner. Mr. Kunte said, all complaints will be looked into action taken against erring employees.
