Coimbatore: In a move to avoid delay in Govt projects as well as to make easy contracts for builders and engineers, Builders Association of India is seeking to make changes in old contract documents for builders and engineers.
However, the current method builder are using is the British contract system, under which have no cost escalation clause or road acquisition protection and due to this projects are getting delayed, K Vishwanathan, All India Vice President (SOUTH), BAI said in an media conclave.
For amended contract method BAI would follow the contracts of FIDIC (International Federatioin of Consulting Engineers) of Geneva, which has protection for the builders, he added.
Vishwanathan is newly elected president for the entire southern states of BAI including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, said that the local associations were also proposing to start consortiums to purchase, stock and supply raw materials like cement and steel, the prices of which were getting increased day by day.
Whereas, the BAI is particularly concentrating on Green Building Concept, BAI president said.
