According to a latest Bombay High Court decree, residential buildings should have at least 15% of open plot area for public recreational purposes.

The ruling came in the wake of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by activist Sandeep Thakur questioning the validity of ‘action area plan’ owing to its vague definition in NMMC regulations and urging for implementation of 15% open space in plot area.

The court has held that the developers will now have to reserve 15% for recreational area outside action area.
