cabinet approves ordinance to regularise all unauthorized colonies in Delhi

Illegal coloniesThe Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, on Monday approved amendment to the existing guidelines that enables regularization of all unauthorized colonies that have come up till June 1, 2014 namely extension of cut-off date for regularization from March 31, 2002 to June 1, 2014.

This amendment will provide the benefits accruing from regularization to a large number of people Around 7 lakh people will be benefited living in 895 unauthorised colonies, that have come in existence between 31st March, 2002 and 1st June, 2014.

The existing guidelines were last amended in June 2012, which changed the sequence to be followed for regularisation allowing approval of lay-out plan and land use change after issue of formal order of regularisation.

Union Urban Development Ministry in a statement mentioned that, “This was done without seeking the approval of the Union Cabinet for amending the guidelines, and accordingly, no further action was taken.”
