Cabinet Committee Investment now onwards will be reviewing every quarter the progress if three rail projects which are being constructed for transporting coal from mines of CIL to Odisha, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. The railways lines include Tori-Shivpur-Kathotia (Hazaribagh) BG triple line for the North Karanpura coalfield (CCL Jharkhand) and Jharsuguda-Barpali BG double line for IB Valley coalfield (MCL, Odisha),
The sources from the development department said, that there are mainly two things hindering the project i.e. environmental hurdles and forest and land acquisition issues.
The government had earlier said that two rail projects, including Tori-Shivpur, are likely to be completed by the end of 2017 and will facilitate coal evacuation besides pushing up production of the fuel.
The third link, Mand-Raigarh Phase-I in Chhattisgarh, is expected to be completed in the beginning of the next Five Year Plan period. Ministry of Coal said, commissioning of these rail project will be facilitate the coal evacuation for future projects and will also be help full in increasing the production of coal.
