It seems that the nodal agency for development CIDCO is very serious when it comes to work as not even taking into consideration the religious sentiments of the people. Cidco has issued notices to more than 50 unauthorized religious structures which have allegedly encroached on roads in the city. The body has even started demolishing some of them. According to the survey, Cidco in 2010 states that 800 illegal religious structures have been constructed on Cidco plots in the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation region, as well as in the Panvel and Uran nodes.

Last year, a notice was issued by the nodal authorities to all religious structures, asking them to submit the necessary documents, which only 200 religious did. The remaining 600 are still to submit their documents to Cidco.

In 2013, Cidco conducted a survey to keep track of the number of illegal religious structures, and now, the planning agency has planned to take action based on the results.

Anil Patil, Chief Controller, Anti-Encroachment Cell, Cidco, said, “Action will be taken against all illegal religious structures in the city.”
