Civic body seals office of SevenHills Hospital

On Thursday, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials of property tax and assessment department have sealed the ground floor of  SevenHills Healthcare Pvt. Ltd at Andheri, due to hospital failed to pay property tax.

The Hospital owes money to various authorities and is also running into major financial problems. After the instruction of Additional Municipal Commissioner (AMC) the action was taken.

The last date of payment of arrears was on 28th February and however, the hospital authority failed to pay the arrears of property tax to the civic body of Rs 9 crore.

The civic authority in the month of January had issued a notice to the management of SevenHills Hospital stating that why they should not end its land lease agreement. The hospital has to pay over Rs 100 crore dues to the civic body.

In 2013, there were several violations in Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the hospital with BMC. The report stated that the Rs 76 crore dues are pending and Rs 90 crore was the lease rent.

It added that, as a penalty for failing to complete the construction of the building, the management owed the BMC Rs 2.5 crore per year since 2013.
