The Chief minister Yogi Adityanath, held a meeting with homebuyers as well as the builders on Saturday, after which he promised that 80,000 homes would be provided to the depositors by the end of next March in Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway areas. CM said, strict action will be taken against builders who fail to deliver the flats on time. An action would be taken after the completion of a physical and financial audit being done in the three areas.
The CM assured that the delivery process is being well organized and that the builders are being divided into three categories–first, those who are solvent to deliver; second, who are securing measures to deliver but stuck with projects because of minor dues, and finally those who are debt-ridden and unable to deliver.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, “All the problems being faced in the three areas including the builder-buyer stalemate is a contribution of the previous governments. Soon after coming to power, our government put in place a committee of three ministers comprising ministers Satish Mahana, Suresh Khanna and Suresh Rana, who have been coming here for the past few months to solve the problems being faced.” he said. “Following their intensive follow-up and attempts at finding solutions for the homebuyers, we will now be able to deliver 40,000 homes by the end of this year and another 40,000 by March 2018,” he said.
“I have further directed the three authorities to solve the problems being faced by builders on a case-to-case basis so that we can deliver more flats to buyers without further delay,” The CM said.
However, the CM had earlier promised to help deliver 50,000 flats by year-end.
“The three authorities have been asked to complete the audit of each and every builder and ensure which builder will be able to deliver or not, and seek help at the government level wherever required. They will also need to identify which are the builders who need co-developers to complete their projects, and lastly, if there is any bit of negligence from the builders towards the buyers in handing over their homes, the authorities will keep all their options open for taking action and not shy away from it,” he said.
Getamber Anand, chairperson, Credai, described the CM’s directions to authorities as in the interest of the homebuyers. “The industry is looking to facilitate stalled projects with the help of the government and authorities. We could deliver even more homes if the government rationalises our dues and re-looks at them in a fair manner,” Anand said.
Indrish Gupta, co-founder, Noida Extension Flat Owners Welfare Association (Nefowa), who was among the 10 buyers who met Yogi, said, “The chief minister has given us his assurances, but the buyers are not happy. The crisis of the buyers is hitting the roof and our protest on December 25 will still be held despite this intervention.”
