Construction workers should get training: CIDC

The Construction Industry Development council (CIDC) gave a statement that due to insufficient number of skilled workers is leading to delay into the various construction projects leading to cost escalation.

CIDC is an apex organization established by the Planning Commission and construction industry to provide skill development training to all categories of workers in the construction industry.

The Director General P R Swarup said it is very necessary to impart skill development and training for construction workers to ensure productivity and quality while executing projects. The council had a tie-up with eight state governments to provide training to the work force.

There are 4.18crore workers engaged in construction activity. The council, he said, has decided to provide training to 15,000 workers of AP Labour Board every year for five years.
