Cyclers to get their path ready by this Oct

A separate track is to be made ready for cyclers at Cubbon Park, stated officials of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike. This project was commenced in the month of February by utilising Rs.3.5 crore with a progress reached up to 700m of the footpath and 400m of the cycle track.

Praveen Lingaiah, Executive Engineer, Traffic Engineer Cell said, only 700m will be dedicated to cycling track and the track will start at Minsk Square and end at Manipal Centre. The left 1.3km will be for both pavement and cycle track.

He added, the will be likely completed by October this end.

A 2km track in the middle of nowhere will not be of much help, Bengaluru’s cycle mayor Satya Shankaran urged.

A 7.9km long track is under formation at a slow pace in HSR Layout with a budget worked of Rs.18 crore. Taking care of the bicyclers, a step towards bicycle friendly city has been taken by the BBMP.

It also includes a framework for making available more than 5000 bicycles at seven metro stations across the city.
