Delhi Development Authority is planning to develop Narela as the new housing hub it is going to construct around 20,000 flats here over the next 2-3 years. Recently, DDA has kept a proposal to Urban Development ministry to construct 25, 522 flats, out of which majority will be built in Narela.
In their presentation to minister, Venkaiah Naidu, authorities have discovered 12 locations to built flats. Of them, 12,753 flats will be built in Narela. While 3,393 will be meant for the economically weaker section, over 9,360 2-3 BHK flats will be built. At some locations construction has already begun.
DDA vice-chairperson Balvinder Kumar, said, “Narela is the most suitable and best location to construct homes, as land elsewhere in Delhi is already occupied. So we have decided to put in all efforts to exploit the options in developing Narela. The area well connected by the an Urban Extension Road which starting from the Wazirabad bypass will connect national highways 1, 10, 8 and 2, also passes by the area. Also, the place is important in the context of land pooling.”
In the new project, DDA is planning to take up construction of 12,753 flats in Narela’s sectors A1 through A4. This would take the number of total flats coming up in Narela alone in the next 2-3 years close to 20,000.
DDA has discovered some new locations like Chilla, Sayurpur, Manglapur and Bakkarwala for the new housing scheme to be built. It will have a total of about 4,000 houses build for various categories.
