Latest in line to follow the directive of Real Estate Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, (RERA) that requires of all the state government to adapt the act for their respective states as per the needs, is National Capital Territory of Delhi.
The rules and regulations of the act catering to the requirements of particular states were expected to be finalised by 31st October, 2016. Most of the states, however, couldn’t keep up with the deadline.
The rules were finalised by the Ministry of Urban Development on 23rd November and currently is waiting to be notified. These rules were put in place after thorough consultations with the Delhi Government, the three Municipal Corporations of Delhi, and the Delhi Development Authority.
The Delhi RERA is strikingly reminiscent of the guidelines put forward by the Central government for the five Union Territories without Legislatures on 31st October, 2016.
