Delhi Govt seals nearly 140 commercial units

NEW DELHI

On Friday, nearly 140 commercial units in three markets have been sealed for alleged violation of municipal norms. These areas fall under north and south Delhi, officials said.

The action on 103 units in three markets under South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) and 39 units in New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) areas were taken on the direction of a Supreme Court.

A senior official of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation said, “Twenty-one units were sealed in Sunder Nagar Market, 48 in H-Block, DDA Market in Saket and 34 in B K Dutt Market in Rajouri Garden were sealed for misuse of property.”

According NDMC official said, 26 units were sealed in New Qutub Road Market, 10 units in Lala Lajpat Rai Market and 3 in Timarpur Market.

The Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committee recently held a meeting and more markets are likely to face legal action in upcoming days.
