Disputed lands will not be acquired for industrial areas: Minister

The Industries Minister Subhash Desai on Monday assured that the objection raised for the land will not be acquired and the irrigated lands of the Nira Deoghar irrigation project affected farmers which have been acquired for the industrial area will be provided alternative land with their consent.

A delegation of farmers from Satara meets Industries Minister at Mantralaya in Mumbai. Desai further said, “The remaining project affected farmers in Khandala Phase one will be allotted alternative land in Khandala Phase 2 and the lands of the farmers in respect of which objection has been raised will not be acquired. The farmers whose irrigated land has been acquired for the industrial area will be allotted alternative lands. The lands in the beneficiary area in the Khandala Phase 3 will be excluded and the area adjoining the lands which are in the possession of the Corporation will be acquired with the consent of the landowners.”

The farmers were agitating for their pending demands with respect to their land in Khandala MIDC in Satara District. The said agitation has been withdrawn after the meeting with the Industries Minister, an official said.
