In all five companies have responded to the bids invited by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) from companies to construct the 4.25 km long Sewri-Worli elevated corridor which will provide two lanes each for up and down traffic. The corridor starts from the Sewri interchange of the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) near Sewri Railway station in the East and reach N.Hardikar Road connecting Worli Sea Face via Acharya Donde Marg, J. Bhatankar Marg and Dr. Annie Besant Road in the West. The alignment crosses the Central and Western Railway lines at Elphinston Road Railway Station.
The companies responding to the bids are Gammon India Ltd., Hindustan Construction Company Ltd., Larsen & Tubro Ltd., N.C.C. Limited and Simplex Infrastructure Ltd.
“This will prove to be very crucial feeder link to the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link and we expect at least 20 thousand motorists to benefit from this elevated corridor daily”, said Ms.Ashwini Bhide, Additional Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA.
The contract to construct the Sewri-Worli elevated corridor (East-West Connector) will be awarded once the Bid Evaluation process is completed. The elevated corridor is expected to be ready within 48 months from the award of work.
