The National Green Tribunal (NGT) served a notice to IL&FS and HUDA for cutting the trees on NH-8. The NGT has sought response to the notice before the next hearing by a vacation bench. It is an action taken against them by a complaint filed. In a 50 pages application submitted before the green tribunal the complaints the number of trees that have already been cut to widen the sector road by the private firms along with HUDA.
The revised detailed project report (DPR) states that the proposed road development work in Gurgaon from NH-8 falls in Category A nor Category B which means neither a national highway nor a state highway project. The reports further wrongly states that the project being up gradation of the existing road within the city does not require environmental and forests and Haryana state pollution control board though fro construction of a private road where more than 1,055 trees would be cut it will pose environmental hazards. HUDA administration said, the authority has not looked in the NGT notice however, we will respond. The green belt on which these trees are located belongs to HUDA and it has been earmarked for projects like road widening.
