A group of 50-60 ladies in Mira-Bhayander with a unique way urged the Goddess Durga for expediting the Metro work in Mira-Bhayander on October 14. The group near Golden Nest close to signal played Garba on a highway with a signboard stating, ‘When will Metro come in Mira-Bhayander?’.

“The permission for Metro from Dahisar till here was not granted…We are urging Goddess Durga to accelerate the Metro work”, Snehal Kansaria, Activist who was leading the group allegedly said.

In February 2017, the MMRDA announced that the DMRC was preparing a detailed project report (DPR) on Metro 10, a proposed 9 km extension of Metro 7 from Dahisar to Bhayander, via Mira Road.

Preliminary plans prepared jointly by MMRDA and DMRC, proposed a 9 km elevated extension of Metro 7 from Dahisar to Bhayander, via Mira Road. The extension will have 9 stations, with an inter-station distance of 1 km. The line will run parallel to the Surat-Dahisar Highway, then turn left at Kashi Mira Junction, before passing through Mira Road-Bhayander, and terminating at Golden Nest Circle, Bhayander. The project is estimated to cost Rs 3,600 crore (US$500 million), according to the previous report published in media.

“This activity is to aware people about the metro consuming a lot of time. It is also been sanctioned in the budget. The Group had also gone to the Mira- Bhayander Mayor to speak about the work which is yet to start”, a person at anonymity allegedly said.

On September 9, MMRDA floated a request for proposal in which it desired to appoint Consultants / Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) for carrying out surveys of affected structures and PAPs and for preparation of SIA and RAP reports complying to the requirements of Multilateral / Bilateral Funding Agencies for Metro Line 9. The period of engagement will be for 6 months for the assignment. “Dahisar Metro work is at full swing but however, it may consume more time to come in Mira-Bhayander. Due to there is a lack of space and congestion, a source familiar with it said.
