HP India may help Telangana Government in developing a smart city in the youngest state on a pilot basis.
Telangana Industries minister K T Rama Rao, who is in Delhi in connection with the World Economic Forum meet, where he met various industry leaders and sought investments in the state.
“KTR discussed HP Company’s expansion plans in Hyderabad and smart city solutions with the HP India Managing Director Neelam Dhawan, who agreed to the minister’s proposal to develop one town in Telangana as a smart city on a pilot basis and come soon with a detailed proposal in this regard,” the state government stated in an official release here. HP also agreed to cooperate with the government to provide efficient services to public in the fields of water and power supply through effective use of science and technology.
The minister also met Chairman and Managing Director of JK Tyres, Raghupathi Singhania and explained to him about the opportunities in setting up paper mills in Telangana.
During the meeting, he briefed Singhania about state government’s desire to revive Sirpur Paper Mills and requested the JK Tyres CMD to invest in the plant.
“Singhania expressed his desire to have a separate meeting with state Chief Minister for investments in Telangana,” stated the release.
Separately, KTR spoke about the establishment of a dry port in Telangana and about opportunities in the logistics sector with DHL Managing Director Vikas Anand.
He also spoke with Ashok Leyland Managing Director Vinod Dasari about automobile sector and said that with the setting up of Mahindra plant in Telangana, the state is attracting investments in this sector.
KTR also proposed setting up of a telecom equipment plant in Telangana after meeting a delegation from British Telecom and ZTE.
He also met Accenture group chairperson Rekha Malhotra Menon and requested to expand their unit in the southern state.
