India China sign in pact for improvement in road sector

The visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Beijing in October will get into agreement soon for the co-operation in the road and infrastructure and also transport sector. The sources from the government agencies said the transport ministries of both sides have approved the details of the proposed agreement. The areas where the co-operation include sharing best practices in road and bridges where technologies is concern, policies and intelligent traffic system related to road issues.  We all know that China has taken a lot of efforts in building world class highways and has built over 60,000km of expressways. The future is too building around 18,000km of expressways in India.

Adding further the officials said, once we have hi tech technology sharing from abroad it will boost the pace of construction. The agreement will open a new opportunity for both the countries.

The other major area of co operation areas is in the electronic mode of collecting toll, India has also plans to bring all toll plazas on national highways under ETC so that people can pass through the entire plaza using a single smart card. The two countries will also co operate in the field of intelligence traffic system.
