Affordable houses to be alloted under Mukhyamantri Awas Yojna by Jaipur development Authority (JDA) in November. It is said to be 1,396 houses for middle income group (MIG), economic weaker section (EWS) and lower income group (LIG).
According to JDA official, “In the financial year 2017-2018, JDA’s target was to construct 20,000 houses for EWS and LIG sections. The civic body, so far, has issued lease deeds to 12,790 house owners falling under these categories”.
Most of the homes have been constructed in zone – 14 and rest of it in zone 7, 9, 10, 11 and 12. The rates will be fixed by the state government.
Under JDA 11,000 EWS and LIG homes were developed out of 35,300 lease deeds within two-and-a-half years.
Urban development and housing (UDH) department made several changes in affordable housing policy to encourage developers for building homes for LIG and EWS on both government and private land.
“We have proposed to give priority to this model due to cold response from developers to construct EWS/LIG houses on private land. Though the final decision will be taken only after receiving approval from the cabinet,” a UDH official said.
By 2018, under the Housing for All schemes, the state governments target is to build 10 lakh homes. To achieve this target government will focus on providing free land for affordable housing project on public-private partnership (PPP) mode.
