Jaipur’s underground metro may operational from this August

JAIPUR:

The Minister of Urban Housing and Autonomous Government Shanti Dhariwal on Tuesday inspected under construction metro corridor work from Chandpole to Badi Chaupar and said by August 2019 the metro work shall get complete.

He also informed that construction of the second phase of construction of Sitapura Metro from Ambawadi would be done by Public-Private Partnership (PPP). The decision will be made at the Cabinet meeting.

The Minister took information from the metro officials about the progress of the project.

Dhariwal said that the foundation stone of the underground Metro project was made by the former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in September 2013. After about two years, underground Metro work was started in 2015. He expressed dissatisfaction over the slow pace of the Metro construction and directed the officials to expedite the metro work so that the common man could get quick access to this project.

The completion of underground metro work is scheduled till August 2019, he said.

Mukesh Kumar Singhal-Director, Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation Limited, (JMRCL) said that till the trial of the Metro will be held in May 2019 and thereafter it is likely to start the Metro service by August 2019.
