Kerala: Restructuring Of Broken Houses Started

The work of rehabilitation of homes that were completely destroyed in the flood has commenced. the financial assistance is been provided in six divisions which are completely damaged. District collectors have been given permission to give first aid to those who wish to reconstruct their land.

A total of 6,537 families have already applied for the first phase. Of these, 1,656 were given a total of Rs 16 crores.

95,100 in hilly areas and Rs 1,01,900 in the plain surface area. An amount of Rs 4 lakhs will be paid in two instalments and collectors were told to start the construction of their home.

The High Commission chaired by Chief Secretary Tom Jose has reviewed the process of rebuilding of completely damaged houses. The meeting decided to call the applicants at the block and at the municipal level to explain various reconstruction options. The Help Centers will be set up at the Block level and municipal level under the name ‘Safe Screed Kerala’.
