Maha to give free 5 brass of sand for homes under PMAY

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday announced that state government to give up to five brass of sand at free of cost without charging any royalty for building houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

Under the PMAY, there are plans to construct 12 lakh houses in the state and 6 lakh houses are under construction, an official from CMO said.

CM was interacting with beneficiaries and various officials via video conferencing.

During the conferencing, he took information about the difficulties faced by beneficiaries while taking the house and other advantages. Wardha Kottewar from Wardha and Javed Shaikh from Fulewada in Gadchiroli district were facing a problem of getting sand while constructing a house through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

Through the Loksamvad program, CM replied mostly all the questions from beneficiaries. He replied to the query of Asha Jamjod from Amravati by stating that, discussions were on with the central government on the waiver of fees charged for the designs of the house to be constructed.

The word brass has a meaning used in India, especially in the building and construction trade. It equals one hundred cubic feet volume, (e.g. a cart with load bed of 8′ x 5′ size, when loaded with sand which levels 2.5′ high, the quantity is (8 x 5 x 2.5 / 100 =) 1 brass.
