Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on November 2 said that in coming days, affordable and eco-friendly public transport system is being set up which will reduce pollution by using e-buses and other alternative fuel and also said that Metro work in Mumbai, Pune and Nagaur is on its way and will complete in given time frame.
Metro works under Metro corridor across the state are in progress, Nagpur’s Maha metro project is a pilot project and there is around 570 km of work under Metro Corridor in the state. Of this 400 km of work has been approved. 260 kilometres of work has been started and soon the metro work will be completed in time, CM said.
CM was a speaking at 11th Indian Urban Transport Conference and exhibition organized by Central Urban Development and Housing Department at the Centennial Center where French Ambassador Alexandre Ziegler, Germany’s Ambassador Dr. Martin were also present along with other officials.
Minister of State for Urban Development and Home Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri said, “The urban transport system of Nagpur is undergoing revolutionary changes in the construction of the metro. Delhi Metro is being expanded too. In order to make economic, social and environmentally sustainable development, the public transport system is being strengthened.”
“Since there will be a need for strengthening the clean, safe and eco-friendly transport system, there will be a need to strengthen the public transport system. Different electric vehicles, solar power and other alternative fuel will have to be used for this. India and France cooperate with each other in this sector”, French Ambassador Alexandre Ziegler said
Germany’s ambassador, Dr. Martin has said, “ The new policy of urbanization has to be emphasized by the green transport system. Generally, the public transport system should be strengthened. This transport system should be affordable to all. Germany has been supported by the Nagpur Metro, and this project is being done in the right direction.”
