The Project is expected to deliver 1492 houses
Mumbai, June 3, 2012 – The Metropolitan Commissioner, Mr. Rahul Asthana, visited two Rental Housing Projects in Thane – one at Vartak Nagar and the other at Manpada. The two projects are expected to deliver about 3,000 tenements. “The project “Dosti Vihar” at Vartak Nagar, Thane, is showing up. We expect them to deliver in all 1492 rental tenements in four buildings by August 2012 along with 32 shops, 4 balwadis, 4 welfare centers and 4 cabins for caretakers”, said Mr. Asthana, after visiting the site in Thane.
The Metropolitan Commissioner also visited another site “Dosti Imperia” at Manpada, Thane, where 1429 houses in five buildings are being constructed and are expected to be ready soon. Here too, the same facilities as at “Dosti Vihar” will be provided along with other basic amenities.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has, till today, sanctioned location clearance to 41 projects and expects about a lakh of rental houses in the next two years – out of these 20 projects have received permission to execute the project.
Under the rental housing scheme, MMRDA plans to construct rental tenements to be given on a rent ranging between Rs.800 to Rs.1,500. Any individual, who has been a resident of Maharashtra for the last 15 years and has a minimum monthly income of Rs 5,000, would be able to avail a home under this scheme.
The Rental Housing Project is of ‘Vital Public Purpose’ and also a ‘Slum Prevention Programme’.
