Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) in a Executive Committee meeting accorded approval to appoint contractor for the project to construct and design an elevated viaduct and 16 stations on the 16.5 km long Metro-7 corridor from Andheri (E) to Dahisar (E) in three packages.
The Executive Committee has recommended appointment of M/s. Simplex Infrastructure Ltd. to design and construct the first package consisting of an elevated viaduct and five elevated stations namely Andheri (E), Shankarwadi, JVLR Junction, Mahanand and new Ashok Nagar.
The Executive Committee has further recommended appointment of M/s. J Kumar Infraprojects Ltd. to design and construct the second package consisting of an elevated viaduct and six elevated stations namely Aarey, Dindoshi, Pathan Wadi, Pushpa Park, Bandongri and Mahindra & Mahindra.
The Executive Committee also recommended appointment of M/s. NCC Ltd., to design and construct the third package consisting of an elevated viaduct and five elevated stations namely Magathane, Devipada, National Park, Ovaripada and Dahisar (E).
The projects will be accorded on the cash contract basis.
The meeting was headed by Mr. Swadhin Kshatriya, Chairman, Executive Committee, MMRDA and Chief Secretary, Government of Maharashtra.
The three winning bidders will design and construct the entire corridor and all 16 stations within a period of 30 months. The government has targeted a deadline of 2019 for finishing the construction and commence the operation of the Metro.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 6,208 crore.
