MMRDA in action to repair roads along the Metros

The Versova- Andheri –Ghatkopar Metro has the worst road hit along side. The development authority has finally decided to do some good work of repairing the corridor and completing the half done metro. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has estimated a cost of 28.33crore and has invited bids for the same; it has got the deadline of 12months for the completion of the metros.

One of the official said, some work of the Andheri –Ghatkopar Link Road was held up because the Metro rail construction was going on. We need to construct concrete pavements and lay the road crust over a 2km stretch. Currently the road is not in a condition to be used on this stretch. Adding further he said, along with there are identified stretches by the side of Metros that are badly damaged and is despair need to be repaired. It won’t be mainly because of the Metro construction but also for various other reasons.

The road taken by the MMRDA will between Sakinaka junction and LBS marg junction of 5.6km long is an arterial east-west connector of Andheri to Ghatkopar. The development authority will re-carpet the JP Road between Versova and SV Road Junction. The two roads are part of the 38.6km long road network that is currently with the MMRDA for maintenance wherever it is implementing infrastructure projects.

Most importantly the road constructed by MMRDA will be handed over to BMC after its completed for maintenance.
