MMRDA to complete projects worth Rs 1, 00,000 crore by 2014

Maharashtra Metropolitan Region shall be equipped with infrastructure for the ambitious business project of the Government of Maharashtra, The Mumbai Transformation Project, by 2014.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) has developed many projects that have already reached near the completion stage. The overall connectivity network, infrastructure development and special growth centres in different parts of MMR is expected to boost the economic activities in the region in order to help the Mumbai metropolitan region become a prominent and promising international business destination which would facilitate the infrastructure for these business activities, are spread across the region and would be completed by 2014.

The key projects under this huge project are, 9 corridors of Metro Rail, a 100 kms Monorail, creating 5,00,000 Rental Housing units, Iconic tower, Innovation Park, a Multi-Modal Corridor from Alibaug to Virar, MTHL with Metro, development of Water Resources, MUTP – II, Extended MUIP, Power Generation, Regional Landfill sites, Theme Parks, Matheran Funicular Railway, National Mass Transit Training and Research Institute etc. with a total cost of Rs 1,13,415 crore.

The business and economic scenario in and around Mumbai would enter into the golden phase with completion of these projects. There would be ample space with ready infrastructure and accommodation capacities for smoother business operations and MMR would certainly become one of the most favoured business destinations in India and worldwide.
