MMRDA the nodal agency of infrastructure development in the city has planned to build 2 new flyovers at the Kalanagar Junction to reduce more the traffic congestion. The flyovers will help commuters coming form the Sion-Dharavi Link Road (SDLR) and the Bandra –Kurla-Complex reach the Western Express by skipping four congested junctions which are BKC junction, Kalanagar junction, Bandra railway station and Kherwadi junction. According to the officials the new flyover will be constructed over the existing Kalanagar flyover. While one will start just before Mithi River Bridge on SDLR the other one will be from the BKC junction.

The two lane flyover which will be around 15-2km in length will join over Kalanagar flyover and then continue as three lane flyover before ending on the WEH after Kherwadi junction.

The MMRDA has already decided to construct a flyover between BKC and the Bandra-Mahim pipeline on the WEH for vehicles coming from the sea link and Mahim. It has also planned to construct tunnel for motorist coming form BKC to go on the WEH.
