The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation ( MSRDC ) has appointed a German consultancy firm for a detailed feasibility study of the Versova – Bandra Sea Link project. The company, M/s. Parsons Brinckerhoff Consulting, shall prepare detailed feasibility report along with a Geo- technical study for the project.
The study is expected to complete within next six months. With all the regulatory clearances for the 3000 Cr. worth project , MSRDC is planning to float the bids thereafter somewhere around June next year.
The Versova – Bandra sea link with a stretch of about 10.1 Kms., is a part of the Western Freeway Sea Link Project, from Versova to Nariman Point which would provide the connectivity with the other sea links and coastal roads from Versova to Nariman Point.
With the completion of this project, MSRDC feels that most of the traffic from the western suburbs beyond Bandra towards south Mumbai shall be diverted towards this link resulting in almost 50% less traffic on the main roads and Western Express Highway during the peak hours or otherwise.
