Mumbai Building Repair Board request BMC to pay Rs 70 Cr due

The Chairman of Mumbai Building Repair and Reconstruction Board Vinod Ghosalkar has written a letter to mayor and commissioner of Municipal Corporation for the due Rs 70 crore to be paid by BMC to repair the board.

In Section 97 of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Act, 1976, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation has to contribute an annual contribution of Rs 10 crores to the Mumbai Building Repair and Reconstruction Board.

Chairman said, “Since 2012 the due is pending. For the year 2012-13 to 2018-19 seven crore rupees per annum, a sum of Rs 70 crores has to be received by Municipal Corporation of Mumbai.

The Mumbai Building Repair and Reconstruction Board needs funds for the repair of cessed buildings. It is unlikely that due to lack of repair the buildings collapse. Therefore, the demand for immediate contribution is been made. He said.
