Developers, he said, are prepared to play their role in ensuring quality of construction to match airport standards, provided all clearances come in time
The execution of Navi Mumbai airport is an “absolute must” for the infrastructure of the planned City, according to Rajesh Prajapati, President of developers body MCHI-CREDAI’s Raigad unit.

Commenting on the delays in land acquisition process for the airport project, Prajapati appealed to all concerned people including the local political party leaders and the government to sort out the issue quickly. He welcomed CIDCO Vice Chairman and Managing Director Sanjay Bhatia’s compensation package to the project affected people (PAP) who have been offered 22% of the developed land, cash up to Rs. 20crore a hectare and a resettlement urban colony for over 1200 families.

“I think this the best that any planning and development authority can do,” Prajapati said. The proposed airport is under Raigad district. We as developer community are concerned over the talk in a section of the media that the airport project could be shifted elsewhere in the State in view of the land acquisition problems. Navi Mumbai as a City cannot afford to miss out on the airport,” he said pointing out that MCHI-CREDAI Raigad unit will launch “a concerted campaign for rescuing the airport”.

“Politics should not come in the way of the City’s growth,” he said. Developers, he said, are prepared to play their role in ensuring quality of construction to match the airport standards, provided all clearances come in time. In fact, a huge area around the airport is bound to witness a boom with the potential of tremendous employment generation and improvement of the quality of life here, he added.
