first phase of the proposed global airport worth Rs 14,500crore would be ready by December 2018said the CIDCO Vice Chairman and MD Sanjay Bhatia. He said, settlement of disputes with almost all villages for smooth land acquisition was CIDCO’s priority. The agency is developing a 600 square kilometer township for the airport. Not just airport CIDCO has also started infrastructure development of Rs 20,000crore for the nodes managed by it.
The other key infrastructure projects CIDCO has undertaken in Navi Mumbai include the Rs 2,100-crore metro rail one, the Rs 1,412-crore Nerul-Belapur-Uran railway one, the Rs 1,450-crore Balganga dam to ensure drinking water to the city and several others like coastal roads and bridges.
The nodal agency has also prepared a three year plan development of 13 schools, four professional colleges, one degree college, 32 hospitals, 34 religious and spiritual centres and 77 social welfare centres in the nodes being developed by it.
Bhatia adding further said, the state government was reactivitating the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link while Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust was doubling its capacity to handle large ships.
