  1. Our landlord resides in America. Visits Mumbai once in a year.His power of attorney collected rent from 1980s till 2009 without giving pucca receipt. from 2009 landlord or attorney do not collect rent owing to their family dispute
    Since there is no proper policy even surrender of rights
    to ease from the muddle is difficult. Most court cases can
    be resolved if there is a policy in place. Our building was repaired by MHADA with the co-op.of tenants

  2. Good Article. Recently a couple in their 80’s were dragged out of their house by their developer, MCGM and Police becuase they wanted to demolish the building.

    The couple’s agreement was not made becuase they were tenants for 35+ years. But the developer said that in the newly developed building they would continue as tenants and not owners.

    With no law in support of tenants , the builder are enjoing the benefits of redevelopment.

    The builders have Law protection, MCGM protection and Police protection. But innocent tenants have to run to the court and pay heavily to protect their rights
