The builder of Crystal Tower located at Parel has not cleared its pending dues and also it was a redevelopment project, due to this which is one of the reasons BMC had never allocated OC for it, a civic official said.
On August 22, the building caught fire in which 4 people were killed and 23 were injured. Without the certification of completion, the building was occupied. The official said property tax dues are pending and also the residents failed to provide NOCs from MHADA, and other authority.
The builder had also modified the building plan “The refuge area, which has to be kept free, has been encroached upon. The builder has constructed an apartment in that place. They also constructed a godown in the parking area; these structures were demolished only after notices were issued in 2016- 2017,” Assistant Commissioner and ward officer, Kishore Desai said to one of the publication.
A few years back BMC use to take time for construction permission but now within the record time of 15 days, permission is granted.
