Noida builders to get NOC from water authority

By Accommodation Times News Service

It seems that Delhi developers are facing big trouble in construction as sometime back they had been stayed for taking the ground water in any of their construction and now they are forced by Noida Authority for all developers to get a ‘’no objection certificate’’ (NOC) from the Central Groundwater Authority (CGWA) to get their building plans sanctioned. One of the officials said, that from now on all projects including residential, commercial, institutional or mixed land category which are being developed on a large scale will now have to seek the mandatory clearance from the groundwater authority. The CGWA certificate is mandatory only for big projects that require deep digging for single double or triple basements. We have not yet specified the exact size of the plots that will need the certificate but that will be announced soon. The decision is important as builders dig unnecessarily deep and waste precious groundwater. Also the authority had also formed a task force to ensure that builders adhere to the NGT ban. The green tribunal is expected to hear the petition on groundwater misuse.
