To make potholes free and smooth roads, BMC will be starting work from this October for reconstruction and resurfacing on over 1,300 roads of 507-km length, a source said.
The work is sketched out in phases.
The official said that the process for 624 works for 202.31-km roads has already commenced.
These works are estimated to be commenced after the monsoon ends. The immediate 62 works to be done is already through the way of completion for which these works shall be awarded next month.
Around 15 roads are located each in the island city and eastern suburbs out of 62 roads.
The official also reported about the quality maintenance through finalization of the new mechanism.
He said we have taken a slew of measures to fix the accountability on the contractors. We will ensure that there would be no irregularities.
The budget set by the civic body for such project of reconstruction and resurfacing is of Rs.1508 crore, the official stated.
