PCB to send notices to 12,000 properties

The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) for the very first time is clicking photographs of all properties to verify between commercial or residential purpose. This is being done to make triennial assessment of property tax for 2011-2014 a transparent process.

The PCB has started giving notices to 12,000 property owners. It is being sent to revise the annual rate able value of properties to which the owners will have to respond in 30 days disclosing the use of property- residential, commercial or any other purpose.

PCB revenue official said, the clicking of photographs of properties has been started for verifying its status before taxes are revised. The PCB will be constrained to take action against who provide wrong information. The revenue staff will also conduct a physical verification. After collecting the information of properties will again propose taxes and will again issue a notice to owners inviting objections. Those filling the objections will be given a hearing following which the PCB will take a final call.
