PCMC chief seeks directions for the proposal of illegal structures

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner has sought directions from the state government on a proposal to stop supply of basic civic amenities to unauthorized constructions that have come up in the city. The Commissioner had sent the proposal before but the general body meeting did not approve it. He made it using his constitutional powers and forwarded the directions to the government. He said the civic administrations had submitted the proposal to the law committee to stop supplying civic amenities to unauthorized constructions.

The proposal states that there are 3lakh properties in the city out of which 1.10lakh are unauthorized constructions. The members of Pimpri Chinchwad New Township Development Authority (PCNTDA) have written a letter to the PCMC to check documents like lease deed, building permission, completion certificate provided by the PCNTDA to the owners of constructions that are located in limits.

The civic body has also sought approval to inform the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) to give power connections to properties in the municipal limits only after the owners provide commencement and other certificates from the concerned civic departments.
