The drive conducted from January 1-10 in Pune has brought the recovery of Rs 15.84 crore in property tax to Pune civic body.
Vilas Kanade, head of PMC’s property tax department, said, “The PMC has special squads to recover the tax. Confiscation of the properties will be taken up by the squad. The recovery has been made with the help of this squad.”
The civic administration earned around Rs 891 crore since the start of the financial year 2017-18 in April 2017, as per the data.
According to civic officials, property tax is collected from around 8.3 lakh properties in the city around 7 lakh are residential buildings and nearly 1 lakh commercial properties.
Pune has 14,000 commercials, residential and open properties and 29,000 open plots. Special drives have been carried out.
Property tax is the aim route of income for the civic body. The tax is charged on immovable properties.
