The civic administration's proposal for increasing concession in property tax of
housing societies implementing environment conservation measures, got a clear
nod from the standing committee of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal
Corporation (PCMC).
Seema Savale, the Chairperson of the Standing Committee of PCMC, said, "The
percentage of concession in the general tax component of property tax proposed by
the property tax department for the housing societies undertaking the environment
conservation measures for the ideal environment balanced housing society is very
low as compared to the expenditure incurred in implementing these measures."
The committee has declared two categories for the contest arranged for the ideal
environment balanced housing society. The first group will be of housing societies
having 12 to 100 flats/bungalows/ row houses and the second group will be of
those having more than 100 flats/bungalows/row houses.

One housing society each will be chosen for ideal environmentally balanced
housing society award from the eight zonal offices of the city from Group 1 and 2.
The application form and criteria for evaluating will be prepared after municipal
commissioner's approval. The applicant societies must mandatorily pay 100%
water tax and 90% of their members must pay the property tax.
Dilip Gawde, the joint commissioner and chief of the property tax department,
said, "All the housing societies should participate in the contest organized by the
civic body. It will help in making the city clean and reduce PMC’s burden of
garbage treatment."
