Pune, a developing city and the Education and IT hub of Western Maharashtra, has attracted huge public masses putting a lot of strain on the Existing Infrastructure of the city which calls in for a huge infrastructural development to improve present conditions.
Bhubaneshwar, a developing city in Eastern India is also growing very fast. The Infrastructural developments are being done by Bhubaneshwar Development authority ( BDA ).It is planning to develop the infractuctural facilities similar to Mumbai and is seeking guidance for the same from MMRDA, the infrastructure developing authority of Mumbai.
Mr.Ratnakar Gaikwad, The Commisioner, MMRDA feels that Pune, now being equally congested like Mumbai, must undergo the change in it’s transportation facilities which can be achieved by integrating the mass transportation facilities.
He also added that the Option of Monorail would be ideal for Pune too. Being cost effective, it has the ability to navigate through severely congested areas which would avoid the commuting problems. He also stressed upon the improvement in the existing railway network facilities. He admitted that it is necessary to plan for the financial bases and revenue generating options that will help improve Pune’s Infrastuctural Facilities.
